Andy Murray has sent social media into a frenzy by posting a hilarious ‘retirement’ photo on Instagram, which cracked up Novak Djokovic’s wife.

The former world No.1 finally hung up his racket this summer at the Olympic Games in Paris, going down as one of the biggest icons in British sporting history.

Murray enjoyed an incredible career, in which he won two Wimbledon titles, two Olympic gold medals, the US Open and the Davis Cup before a superb comeback with a metal hip, despite doctors telling him he’d never play professionally again.

Murray has made no secret that he wants a career in tennis coaching, but for now, he is spending time with his family after his big decision to retire from the sport.

Following a rare family holiday, Murray has amusingly posted a picture of himself with a deadpan expression, while donning a hydrating sheet face mask.

The 37-year-old, who can be seen wearing a black hairdressing cape as part of his cheeky pamper session, wrote: ‘I knew retirement was going to hit me hard.’

Murray’s funny post has gone viral – knocking up hundreds of thousands of likes – while a number of famous faces have left comments, including Jelena Djokovic, who posted four laughing face emojis.

What will Andy Murray do next after his retirement from tennis?
Murray ‘definitely’ sees himself having ‘some involvement’ in tennis going forward. He has previously expressed an interest in entering a coaching career.

For now, though, the British sporting legend is taking some time away to focus on his family.

‘Ultimately, the decision had to come from me,’ Murray told CNN last month about his retirement from professional tennis. ‘I’m happy that I get to finish playing an Olympics with a lot of my… I consider a lot of the tennis players on our team close friends of mine.

Getting to be around them [makes me happy] and I have great memories from the Olympics. I don’t know exactly what my legacy is… and I don’t feel like it’s for me to decide that, it’s more for others. And what’s next – initially, I’m going to go home and I’m going to spend time with my family and be around my kids.
