Despite securing his second consecutive podium finish at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, Lewis Hamilton expressed his desire for more from Mercedes. The British driver battled with Fernando Alonso throughout the 70-lap race and ultimately finished third, while Max Verstappen claimed victory for the fourth time in a row.

Unfortunately, George Russell had a different story to tell. The British driver’s race took a turn for the worse when he made contact with the barriers, resulting in a front wing change and scattered debris on the track. With excessive brake wear becoming an issue, Russell was forced to retire with only 15 laps remaining. Mercedes’ hopes of achieving back-to-back double podium finishes were abruptly dashed.

As it stands, Red Bull continues to dominate the field and operate in a league of their own, having triumphed in every Grand Prix of the 2023 season thus far. With the upcoming race in Austria, the defending champions will be eager to maintain their winning streak. However, they cannot afford to rest on their laurels as their rivals, including Mercedes, Ferrari, and Aston Martin, have shown significant progress in recent weeks. Red Bull will need to continue working diligently to stay ahead of the chasing pack.
