Kate Middleton and Prince William have jetted off on a number of holidays with their three children, and one trip was to a seriously glamorous location with Hollywood links.

Despite their royal status, Kate Middleton and Prince William strive to give their three children a life as normal as possible behind closed doors.

The couple keeps their family life mostly private, with the Prince of Wales fully aware of the difficulties that come with growing up under intense scrutiny as the future king. Occasionally, Royal Family fans are given a sneak peek into what the Wales children are up to.

These glimpses often reveal the big personalities of the three youngsters – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The Wales family usually vacations at Anmer Hall, their Norfolk home gifted by the late Queen Elizabeth when William and Kate married. However, the children sometimes enjoy overseas holidays.

One such trip a few years ago was to an incredibly glamorous location with Hollywood connections and a special sentimental significance for Kate. The vacation in question was disclosed after it occurred.

The family traveled incognito to Jordan for a private getaway. They visited the historic city of Petra, a UNESCO heritage site and one of the world’s most iconic archaeological locations. Much of this breathtaking city, dating back to 300 BC, is carved into rock.

Several blockbuster Hollywood films, including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Lawrence of Arabia and Dune have been shot in the area. In a delightful Christmas card from the 2021 holiday season, featuring a joyful family photo of William, Kate and their three children in Jordan, the couple offered a glimpse into their family vacation.

Interestingly, Jordan holds a special connection to Kate’s childhood, which might explain her eagerness to visit the country with her own kids. During the 1980s, a young Kate, along with her siblings Pippa and James, moved to Jordan with their parents Carole and Michael Middleton.

The family lived in Jordan for two years, reportedly from 1984 to 1986, while her father worked as a flight dispatcher in Amman. It is said Kate even picked up some Arabic during her time there.

In 2018, William embarked on a solo royal tour to Jordan while Kate was on maternity leave with their youngest child, Prince Louis. During his visit, William was shown the exact location where a young Kate had once posed for a family photo with her father.

Upon seeing this, William remarked: “Need to come back with the family for this shot,” as he happily snapped photos next to his wife’s childhood portrait. Fast forward three years, and he made good on his promise.
