Max Verstappen enjoyed a highly dominant 2023 Formula 1 season as he took his third World Championship. His father Jos Verstappen has pointed out his highlight of the year.
Max Verstappen won 19 out of 22 Grands Prix held this year en route to his third World Championship, enjoying one of the most dominant seasons in Formula 1 history.
Verstappen has already named the Grands Prix of Miami, the Netherlands and Japan as his best wins of the year.
Behind the scenes of Verstappen’s rise to prominence was his father Jos, who played an important role in the Red Bull driver’s development.
The time that the duo put into race tracks during Max’s karting career has resulted in high success, which doesn’t seem to have an end in sight for the time being.
When asked by Viaplay what he believes Max’s highlight of 2023 is, Jos didn’t point to any specific Grand Prix.
“That Max is just standing there every race [is the highlight],” he said. “The championship was in early, but he just wants to win everything he competes in.”
‘You always have that bullshit, don’t you?’
Red Bull was denied victory just once during the year as it suffered a difficult round in Singapore where Carlos Sainz emerged victorious for Ferrari.
Verstappen hit back with a strong performance in Japan, before wrapping up the title at the following round in Qatar.
“You always have that bullshit, don’t you? When things are not going well, they immediately think it’s the car,” Jos added.
“That is also the beauty of the team, the cooperation with Max and the fact that he wants to show it again.
“But that is also the drive within the team. That is the most beautiful aspect.”
