Novak Djokovic, the current leader in the world rankings, discussed how his wrist injury would impact his preparation for the Australian Open.

“First and foremost, I am just trying to recover, dealing with the wrist and everything I have been struggling with in the last couple of days. I will be following the recovery and training plan, getting into shape for the Australian Open. There’s nothing unusual in this. I have been in a similar situation many times and I know what needs to be done with my team to prepare.

Of course, you never know what might happen. I mean, in the last two years, I got injured right before the Australian Open, and I managed to win both Australian Opens and, you know… excuse me, two out of the last three years, the 21st and 23rd. So, I hope this time will also go without injuries.

That’s what we will be working on, getting my body in the right shape, optimal condition, so I can perform at a high level throughout, hopefully, the entire Australian Open,” said Novak.

It’s worth noting that Djokovic lost to Australian Alex de Minaur with a score of 4:6, 4:6 in the quarterfinals of the United Cup, ending his 43-match winning streak on Australian courts.
