Carlos Alcaraz has revealed the results of the MRI scan on his ankle, after the Spaniard was forced to retire from his match in Rio de Janeiro after only two games.
Alcaraz was playing home wildcard Thiago Monteiro in the Brazilian capital on Tuesday, where he went over on his ankle in only the second point of the match and subsequently retired.
Just so unfortunate…
After rolling his ankle two points into the match, Carlos Alcaraz retires at 1-1 in his Rio opener against Thiago Monteiro.

There were a lot of fears for fans of the world No.2, who had concern that he would be unable to defend his Indian Wells title next month.
However, Alcaraz appears to have put those fears to bed and confirmed that he should be ready in time for both Indian Wells and the Netflix exhibition match with Rafael Nadal in Las Vegas.
“I just had an MRI on my ankle after yesterday’s injury, and I have a grade 2 lateral sprain that will keep me out of action for a few days,” Alcaraz said on social media. “See you in Las Vegas and Indian Wells!”
