Daniil Medvedev has described England captain Harry Kane as “a machine” as he also lifted the lid on his favourites to win this year’s Champions League title.
Tottenham Hotspur legend Kane swapped London for Munich in August 2023 as he joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in a deal believed to be worth £86.4m.

The England attacker has been in incredible form for the German outfit as he has scored 27 league goals and also chipped in with four in the Champions League.

Former world No 1 Medvedev is not only an avid football fan, but he is also passionate about Bayern and he is delighted to have Kane on the team.
“Harry Kane is amazing – in my opinion, he’s playing so good,” he said to Eurosport during an interview. “I played fantasy so I saw it already in Tottenham – the guy is a machine.

“The way he controls the game is pretty surprising for someone of his complexion [profile], in a way for football.

“We see playmakers, usually bit smaller guys, and the one that can go with the body. So yeah, he’s a big, big player.”
Daniil Medvedev – who is currently in California preparing for the 2024 Indian Wells Open – previously revealed that he started supporting Bayern Munich during his teenage years, saying: “I really fell in love with soccer and with Bayern when I was maybe 12 years old.

“That’s when it really started. But even before that, when I was 6 years old, I remember that I already liked Bayern.
Bayern and Kane are back in Champions League action on Tuesday evening as they will take on Serie A side Lazio in the second leg of their last-16 encounter.

Bayern, though, are up against it as they lost the first leg 1-0 away in Italy.

Medvedev also doesn’t seem to think that Bayern are among the favourites for this year’s title although “anyone can win it”.

“Champions League, we have Real Madrid, Manchester City that are going very strong – they showed it [in their first legs],” he said.

“But I think what is good about Champions League, in my opinion anyone can win it.

“Inter were so close last year to winning it, and now in a way are even kind of in the favourites group – but I think last year after the group stage, they were nowhere close to being the favourites.

“That’s why Champions League is nice, it’s two matches, penalties, in my opinion anyone can win it, so I will just watch it and enjoy.”
