Lewis Hamilton has deemed his shocking entry to Ferrari in the coming season. The Italian constructor has great hopes of an upturn in performance after the arrival of the seven-time world champion. Maranello has already suffered from a mid-season performance slump in the 2024 season. However, F1 pundit Tom Coronel commented against Hamilton’s dominance at Brackley.
Tom Coronel claimed that Lewis Hamilton was already bidding farewell to Mercedes before committing to Ferrari. Additionally, the Dutchman noted that acquiring Hamilton was a ‘master move’ from Maranello. However, the Italian constructor would’ve preferred to sign Max Verstappen instead.
The 52-year-old believed that Ferrari would only win the world championship with Verstappen in their arsenal.
You can tell from everything that Lewis is already saying goodbye to Mercedes and vice versa. I think it’s a Ferrari master move that they took it, but of course they would have preferred Max. Ferrari can only become world champion with Max. Tom Coronel told formule1.nl
The Dutchman didn’t hesitate to make a bold claim that Ferrari wouldn’t succeed with Hamilton. The 52-year-old was not mincing words while talking ill of the Brit’s chances at Maranello. Coronel highlighted that Hamilton was a second option for Scuderia after Verstappen.
Ferrari will not succeed with Hamilton. He is second choice, but better second than third choice. Tom Coronel added
Tom Coronel claims there’s ‘nothing left’ for Lewis Hamilton after Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton has signed a two-year contract with Ferrari after which his future remains uncertain. Tom Coronel believes that the Briton ‘pre-sorted’ his farewell and was ready to retire as a Ferrari driver. The reason for this was that there was nothing left for the 39-year-old to achieve after joining Maranello.
You know from Hamilton that he pre-sorts on his farewell, because after Ferrari there is nothing left. Ferrari red is a wet dream for every driver, but you bet he will wake up a few times bathed in sweat next year. Tom Coronel noted
Ferrari has to upgrade their chassis this season and take in great learnings to provide Hamilton with the best possible opportunity. The Italian constructor is dreaming of championship contention alongside the 39-year-old. Hence, the coming season will be extremely exciting to witness the way the deal between the two pan out.
