Tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams congratulated the latter’s husband Alexis Ohanian for winning the prestigious Adweek’s Brand Genius Award. Ohanian shared his excitement and appreciation for the recognition he received for his work over the past four years since leaving Reddit.
After 15 years of building influential brands like Snoo and Reddit, the entrepreneur made the bold decision to resign from the latter in 2020. He stepped down from the company’s board, urging the platform to appoint a Black candidate in his place.In his heartfelt post on X, Ohanian reflected on his journey, stating:
“It’s wild to me that after 15 years of building a brand like Snoo & Reddit, I’m being recognized for everything I’ve done in the 4 years since leaving Reddit, which delights me, because I resigned in protest so that I could spend the rest of my years not only doing the best work of my career, but also in a way that aligns with my values.”
“Thank you, Adweek, for this Brand Genius award; and thanks to all of you who have supported me all these years,” Ohanian added.
