Prince William has been given a huge freedom by the King which is not often bestowed to future monarchs.
Prince William and Princess Kate have been given a huge freedom by King Charles which isn’t always bestowed on future Kings and Queens.
With half-term well underway, it is no secret that both the Prince and Princess of Wales, 42, have restricted their public engagements and instead are at home spending time with their three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Although this period is when many families catch flights abroad, this is not the case for the young family, who are believed to be spending the time in the UK.
Originally, according to the Sun, it would have been expected of William to stay in the country as the half-term coincides with King Charles and Queen Camilla’ royal tour, meaning that the future King would normally need to remain in the home country in case he is needed to step in for the crown as a Councillor of State.
However, this is not the case for the Prince of Wales as a new law introduced in 2022 means the King’s siblings Princess Anne and Prince Edward can stand in for the monarch at official engagements if needed, taking some of the weight from William’s shoulders.
While this means he could go abroad if he wanted to with his young family, one royal expert believes he will most likely opt out of doing that this half-term.
Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward told Fabulous: “I suspect they will be in Norfolk rather than Mustique as the King is out of the country.
“He could go abroad but might not be wise at this particular juncture.”
The young family is likely to stay at home as Princess Kate is continuing her recovery from cancer after completing her chemotherapy treatment last month.
The future King is also set to jet off in a couple weeks to Africa on a solo engagement for the Earthshot Prize Awards on November 6.
