The Duke of Sussex attended a charity event in Santa Barbara but was confused with his brother the Prince of Wales after an encounter backstage.

Prince Harry was once confused for his brother, Prince William after a celebrity mistakenly tagged the heir to the throne instead of the duke following a charity event in Santa Barbara.

The Duke of Sussex attended One805Live! concert hosted by Kevin Costner in Carpinteria back in September to help raise funds for the local community’s first responders.

During his speech on stage, Harry paid tribute to helicopter pilot Loren Courtney, saying: “As you’ve probably heard already, 22 years [of] military service over 10,000 hours and rarely sees his family because he’s always here flying helicopters.”

Also on stage to perform was singer Richard Marx who was greeted by the duke backstage.

Their exchange was uploaded on Instagram as a story by Marx’s wife, Daisy Fuentes, who “mistakenly tagged” the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram account (@princeandprincessofwales), according to Us Weekly.

The Instagram story has since expired but Ms Fuentes uploaded another one with the tag @princeharryofengland.

Harry no longer has any accounts on social media, while his official Instagram account with Meghan Markle from their time as working royals (@sussexroyal) has not been active since their departure from the Firm in March 2020.

During his speech at the event, Harry said to Loren Courtney: “There are people here tonight who are alive because of you and who are back to their families because of you. From everybody here, thank you so much.”
