The Duchess of Edinburgh has stepped out after “sending a powerful signal to Prince William”, according to a body language expert.

Sophie, 59, was pictured accompanying a young woman during a charity walk in Windsor.

Emily, 21, who has cerebral palsy, took on The Long Walk as part of BBC Children in Need and The One Show’s fundraiser, The Challenge Squad.

The Duchess of Edinburgh wore an £895 field coat in the colour “moss green” from Purdey London for the occasion.

For footwear, Sophie donned £1,030 boots from Gianvito Rossi, currently on sale for just £515.

The royal’s outing today comes just two days after the duchess “sent a powerful signal to Prince William”, according to body language expert Judi James.

Following the Remembrance Sunday ceremony at the Cenotaph, Sophie placed her hand on Princess Kate’s back as they re-entered the building.

The supportive touch mirrored Prince William’s actions from the previous evening at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.

The gesture carried deeper significance as a message to the wider Royal Family, according to the expert.

James continued to tell The Mail that it served as “a small but powerful signal to William and even George and Charlotte”.

The body language expert explained that the moment demonstrated how Kate remains well-supported even when William is not physically by her side.

“She is still surrounded by a Royal Family that is taking very good care of her, albeit subtly,” James added.

On Monday, Sophie attended the Armistice service at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, where she proved her maternal nature once again during a sweet conversation with a group of youngsters.

She was praised by royal fans for the sweet display, where Sophie knelt down to chat with a group of children.
