Royal expert defends Prince of Wales for missing key event on Kate Middleton’s birthday
A royal expert came to Prince William’s defence after he failed to attend Jimmy Carter’s funeral on Kate Middleton’s birthday.

The former US president’s funeral was instead attended by King Charles’ brother, Prince Edward, as William allegedly celebrated his wife’s birthday.

Opposing the idea of having Edward representing the Royal family at Carter’s funeral, royal author Ingrid Seward told Newsweek that William “missed a trick.”

She said while Edward attending the key event was “quite carefully considered,” William may have “missed a trick” by not attending.

“You can’t get a bigger global stage than Jimmy Carter’s funeral today,” Seward said.

Coming to the Prince of Wales’ defence, royal correspondent Cameron Walker urged the public to “cut William and Kate some slack.

“It has been a brutal year, in William’s words, and they want to spend some time privately as a family,” he told GB News.

“It’s been a horrific period for Princess Kate with her abdominal surgery, a cancer diagnosis and having to undergo chemotherapy,” Cameron added.
