Prince William

King Charles does what Prince William reportedly hates.
The royal family on Monday shared a picture of King Charles meeting volunteers and veterans at The Gordon Highlanders Museum.

He also met with 99-year-old D-Day veteran Jim Glennie, whose portrait by Carl Randall is displayed at the museum.

According to the statement, the monarch saw the kilt of Captain Alexander Manson, who was wounded in the 1916 Battle of the Somme. “Remarkably, the kilt still bears traces of mud from the battlefield,” said the statement.

In the pictures released by the palace, the king was seen wearing a kilt, an outfit which his son Prince William has always been averse to wear.

William leaves people of Scotland often disappointed during his visits to the region as he refuses to wear during royal engagements.

Citing an expert, Daily Mail reported last year that one of the changes that Prince William is determined to make after becoming the king is to end Charles’ beloved kilt-wearing tradition.

Another report in the British media said that the Prince of Wales “hates” wearing kilts and has never been pictured in one, despite being given the option at his graduation in 2005.

The Prince of Wales has drawn criticism for refusing to wear a kilt, traditionally worn by men as part of Scottish Highland dress.

Prince William is the Lord of the Isles and holds at least 7 Scottish titles which include:

Duke of Rothesay

Earl of Carrick

Earl of Strathearn

Baron of Renfrew

The Lord of the Isles

Prince of Scotland

Great Steward of Scotland.
