British royal family news reveals that the Windsors are a remarkably strong, resilient, and fascinating clan. Queen Elizabeth ruled for 70 years and her legacy will not soon be forgotten.

The late queen had a wicked sense of humor, as she showed in a Superbowl cameo with James Bond and a Platinum Jubilee video with Paddington Bear.

The Royal Change Agent No One Knew About
According to Marie Claire, the monarchy held this royal’s secret career in confidence for ages. This isn’t the sort of thing one expects from a proper family tasked with upholding centuries of tradition and decorum.

And yet Katharine, the Duchess of Kent who married the queen’s cousin Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, in 1961, led a double life—with Queen Elizabeth’s full approval.

Katharine, the Duchess of Kent Was a Teacher
Back in the day, Katharine, the Duchess of Kent was a fashion plate to rival the likes of Kate Middleton. Katharine, now 92, was a regular part of royal life, and she carried out her royal duties in the highest style.

The duke and duchess had three children: George Windsor, Lady Helen Taylor, and Lord Nicholas Windsor and for years the mom of three was content to attend royal events and be part of the daily goings on.

But in 1996, the Duchess, who now lives at Kensington Palace, decided she wanted to pursue one of her youthful dreams.

And so, Katherine went on to teach music at a primary school in Yorkshire where she was raised. She told the Guardian in 2014: “There was nothing that I felt I wanted to hide away from.”

When she told the queen of her dream the monarch told her “Yes, go and do it.” She added that the transition happened naturally, and that she “glad I did it. I was supported through it as well.”

Katherine taught music at Wansbeck Primary School in Hull, England for 13 years where she was known as “Mrs. Kent.”

During the entire time, there was just one individual who knew of her background, the school’s headmaster. The Duchess of Kent said “The parents didn’t know and the pupils didn’t know. No one ever noticed. There was no publicity about it at all, it just seemed to work.”

Which goes to show you that one is never too old to pursue their dreams!
