Tiger Woods suffers injuries.

More than a month after the death of his mom, Tiger Woods is making another sad update. On Tuesday, March 11, the professional golfer revealed he suffered an injury as he prepared to make his way back onto the course. “As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” Woods announced in his statement.

“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon,” he shared.

And in a quote shared by Stucken, “The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.” Woods, 49, noted that he is already “back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.” In the comments, fans offered their support. “Tiger, you are strong for grinding through these things, speedy recovery, hope to see you play again one day,” a fan wrote.

Prior to his injury, Woods postponed his return to the green in February, saying he was “just not ready” following the passing of his mom, Kultida Woods, on Feb. 4. “I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss. Thanks to everyone who has reached out,” he shared in his statement at the time. “I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.” Woods described his mom as his biggest fan and “greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.”
