Prince Andrew could be set for further “humiliation” as officials in the US are continuing their investigation into American paedophile financier, Jeffrey Epstein.
The 65-year-old Duke of York was accused of sexual assault by the late Virginia Giuffre, one of the most prominent accusers of Epstein, which he has always stringently denied. Her civil case with him was settled in February 2022
Epstein died in his New York jail cell after being arrested on federal sex trafficking charges in 2019, which the medical examiner determined to be caused by suicide.
US Attorney-General Pam Bondi has now revealed the FBI is “reviewing tens of thousands of videos” of the disgraced financier.
Interest in the case was renewed after US President Donald Trump promised to publicise the so-called “Epstein Files”.
Regarding the videos Bondi discussed, a source told The Sun: “Andrew will be sweating over their release.”
“If there’s anything in there that involves him, it would pile more misery and humiliation on him,” they added.
Virginia Giuffre had previously said in legal papers that she believed US authorities held footage of her engaged in sexual relations with influential associates of Epstein, The Sun reports.
Giuffre emerged as a campaigner against sexual abuse and sex trafficking after becoming as one of Epstein’s most vocal accusers.
She alleged she had been groomed and sexually abused by Epstein and his British socialite associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
In a 2009 lawsuit, Giuffre alleged Epstein and Maxwell had introduced her to Prince Andrew in 2001. In a separate civil lawsuit, Giuffre claimed Prince Andrew sexually assaulted her on three occasions when she was 17.
The Duke of York repeatedly and strongly denied the accusations.
Andrew and Giuffre reached an out-of-court settlement for an undisclosed sum in 2022, meaning Andrew made no admission of guilt.
Giuffre took her own life last month at her home in Neergabby, Western Australia, at the age of 40.
In a statement announcing her death to NBC News, Giuffre’s family said: “It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia.
“She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
