Prince Harry recently opened up about not being on speaking terms with his father, King Charles
A royal expert has claimed there’s a much deeper meaning behind a recent snap of Prince Harry with his children, coming just weeks after the prince opened up about the possibility of reconciling with his family in a bombshell new interview.
As the Sussexes marked their seventh wedding anniversary this week, it’s safe to say a lot has changed since Meghan Markle walked down the aisle of St George’s Chapel back in 2018.
While the lead-up to their wedding was sadly marred with drama – from Meghan’s relationship with her dad to the apparent bust-up between her and sister-in-law Kate Middleton – the chaos would ultimately never quieten, culminating in the pair moving across the pond to step away from royal life.
There would go on to be several public court cases, tell-all interviews, and their relationship with their family on this side of the Atlantic continues to be scrutinised all these years on.
Harry recently opened up about the current status of his relationship with his family in an interview with the BBC, which came off the back of losing his appeal to have his taxpayer-funded security in the UK reinstated.
While speaking about the ‘really sad’ result, the royal shockingly admitted he is no longer on speaking terms with his father, but did express hopes of a reconciliation down the line.
“He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” he confessed. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.
“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
However, despite Harry being keen to extend an olive branch, a royal expert reckons he has sent out a clear signal through his latest family snap.
The black-and-white pic in question shows Harry in the garden of the couple’s sprawling California home with his kids Archie and Lilibet, and was uploaded to Instagram by Meghan in the wake of the court loss.
In keeping with their stance on maintaining privacy for their children, only the back of the kids are visible in the snap.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that the image was very telling, explaining: “I think the recent post of Harry walking into the distance with his two children suggested that he’s walking away from his old life once and for all.
“And I very much doubt that there will be anniversary wishes winging their way from the UK to California.”
Bond also thinks that despite having ‘burned their bridges’ with their royal relatives, Harry and Meghan have ultimately come out stronger and united
