Tommy Fleetwood is no longer the PGA Tour’s highest-paid golfer without a win. After 164 starts, 44 top-10 finishes, and six runner-up heartbreaks, the 34-year-old Englishman finally broke through at East Lake Golf Club on Sunday, winning the Tour Championship and claiming the FedEx Cup title in the process.

Fleetwood’s final putt on the 18th wasn’t dramatic in distance, but the moment it dropped, the eruption around the green was deafening. Fans chanted “Tommy! Tommy!” as he raised both arms, let out a scream of joy, and embraced his longtime caddie Ian Finnis.

The win came exactly 12 years after Fleetwood turned professional, which the golf world celebrated, including 15-time major winner, Tiger Woods.

Woods, a two-time FedEx Cup champion himself (2007, 2009), took to X to share a heartfelt message for Fleetwood.

“Your journey is a reminder that hard work, resilience, and heart do pay off. No one deserves it more. Congrats @TommyFleetwood1!”
