DTRIC Insurance announced its intent to withdraw from Hawaii’s insurance market, according to a notice filed by its parent company, MS&AD.

Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs officials said today company will transition to a run-off insurance carrier — meaning it will stop issuing new policies and renewing existing ones — but will continue to service all active policies and manage claims for several years as it fulfills contractual and statutory obligations.

The state Insurance Division is advising affected policyholders to contact their insurance agents to explore replacement coverage options. Motor vehicle and homeowners insurance guides, as well as premium comparison sheets, are available at cca.hawaii.gov/ins/resources, according to a DCCA news release.

Homeowners who are unable to secure coverage through private insurers may qualify for protection through the Hawaii Property Insurance Association at hpiainfo.com, officials said.
