Johnny Knoxville is kicking off a new true crime series with the team behind the “SmartLess” podcast.

The “Jackass” star will narrate the eight-part podcast “Hillbilly Heist,” about David Ghantt, a small-town security guard who, with a band of accomplices, managed to pull off the second-largest bank heist in U.S. history.

“If there is one thing I love in life it’s shortsighted, some would say dumb, criminals who have absolutely no business in the robbery game. They aren’t bad people, they are just bad at planning, worse at execution, and the worst at the cover up afterwards,” Knoxville said, per Deadline. “As an example I would like to introduce you to David, Kelly, and Steve who somehow pulled off one of the biggest and most unintentionally hilarious cash heists in American history.”

“We’re thrilled to team up with SmartLess Media for the first time and to continue collaborating with Campside on such a unique and hilarious project,” Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts, also told the outlet. “By pairing Rory and Josh’s comedic curiosity with Johnny Knoxville’s narration of Hillbilly Heist, we’re delivering a show that’s unlike any other in the true crime genre.”

The series starts October 15, and when it concludes on December 10, the series will become “CrimeLess,” a weekly anthology series hosted by comedian Rory Scovel and journalist and true crime podcaster Josh Dean.

“CrimeLess” will explore the wilder side of true crime, from scams to crazy heists, to a monkey gang war.

For the series, SmartLess Media has teamed with Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network, iHeartMedia and Campside Media.
