PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Shopping experts say using AI could cut your shopping time and save you money by searching for you.

“The first tool that I would use is on Amazon. It’s called Rufus. It’s their conversational shopping assistant,” said Trae Bodge a Smart Shopping expert. “You can find it on the upper left corner of the screen, and you can ask it any question.”

Bodge said Rufus is trained on Amazon’s entire marketplace, taking into consideration consumer reviews and web data so you can ask it all kinds of questions.

“‘This is my budget. I’m buying for three kids and here are their ages. What products would you suggest?’ So it’s a great way to cut that time and effort out of your holiday shopping,” said Bodge.

And another tool to make life easier Bodge recommends is Amazon Lens.

“With Amazon Lens, you can take photos to search in the Amazon app,” says Bodge.

For example, you can use Amazon Lens if you need to replace a weird lightbulb in your house and don’t know what kind it is or if you’re out and about and see someone wearing something you love and you want to buy it.

Just open the camera lens within the Amazon app. Live Lens will find that item and similar products and you can then scroll and purchase.

And new this year, Amazon has a button called “Buy for Me.”

It lets you buy products from external websites directly within the Amazon app.

Amazon’s AI transmits your payment and shipping information to the external brand’s website and then you’ll get updates and delivery on your Amazon app.

And there are similar AI tools you can use to shop anywhere, including Google Lens which works just like the Amazon Lens.

You can also use any AI platform, like ChatGPT, as a personal shopper.
