Novak Djokovic lost in the singles and doubles in the semifinals.

Novak Djokovic’s aspiration includes clinching at least one additional singles title before the 2023 ATP Tour season concludes. However, this achievement is not his foremost objective for the remaining weeks of the campaign, nor is it the year-end No. 1 ranking.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner is currently enjoying a well-deserved break following his brilliant North American hard-court campaign where he won the Cincinnati Masters and the US Open – finishing with a 12-0 record.

After opting to skip the Asian swing – including the Shanghai Masters – Djokovic will next be in action at the Paris Masters (October 30-November 5) before he brings the curtain down on his regular ATP campaign at the ATP Finals in Turn (November 13-19).

His performances at the final two singles events will also determine who finishes the year at No 1 in ATP Rankings as he is involved in a battle with Carlos Alcaraz.

But there is one more tournament left after the conclusion of the ATP season, the Davis Cup Finals in Spain, and that is the big one that he is yearning to win.

“Preparations are underway for the final part of the season, I have three tournaments left in which I will participate,” Djokovic told Sportal.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges, I’m still in the race to finish No 1, with Alcaraz in that fight, there are still a few weeks, just enough to bring my game to the desired level.

“Probably, the five-week break will affect the beginning a little, I hope that I will be able to overcome it as soon as possible and enter the desired level and quality of competitive tennis very soon.

“Expectations are high, I had a lot of success in Paris-Bercy and I expect nothing less this year. My biggest wish is to win the Davis Cup, I hope we will be healthy and fit and I hope I can finish the year as No 1 and win at least one more title.”

Novak Djokovic and Serbia at the Davis Cup
Serbia will face Great Britain in the quarter-final in Malaga on November 23 and if they come through that tie then they will take on either Italy or the Netherlands for a place in the final.

The European country is looking to win their second Davis Cup trophy following their title run in 2010. They finished runners-up in 2013 while last year they exited the tournament in the group stage.

Djokovic, meanwhile, is 39-7 in singles at the Davis Cup with his overall record 43-14. His last singles defeat was in 2011 when he lost against Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro.
