Simone Biles

“Simone Biles made a triumphant return to Antwerp for the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships, where she accomplished multiple historic feats. This extraordinary journey included her seventh consecutive World Title with Team USA and her sixth World Gymnastics Championship title in the individual all-around finals. To top it off, she secured the silver medal in the vault finals and earned two additional gold medals on the competition’s final day, first in the balance beam finals and then in the floor exercise finals.”

This gold medal on floor exercise ended the championships on a high note for her and marked her sixth world title on the apparatus, making her the only gymnast ever to achieve such a feat. However, beyond the medals and awards, Biles and her fellow Team USA gymnasts took on another role while enjoying their time in the diamond capital of the world—they became travel influencers, sharing their entire journey with their fans. Most recently, Biles shared never-before-seen moments from their journey that showed her return to gymnastics was about more than just winning medals.

Simone Biles shares viral never seen before images from Antwerp
Simone Biles took to Instagram and shared a carousel of images with the caption, “Album: Belgium 💌” Among these thrilling slides were pictures of delicious Belgian pancakes drizzled with chocolate sauce, accompanied by a scrumptious glass of coffee topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. In another slide, Biles looked stunning in her all-black outfit and cap while in her hotel room. The carousel also featured an image of her holding a refreshing yellow drink against a floral background. Alongside these culinary delights, there was a snapshot with the youngest member of the team, Joscelyn Roberson, with Antwerp City Hall and the Brabo monument in the background. A mouthwatering pepperoni pizza followed, along with an inspiring quote that read, “Reminder: It’s going to be okay.”

The carousel continued with an image of Biles posing against a gray wall in a gray GK Elite leotard with pink and white crystals, smiling from ear to ear. Then, there was an image of the chalk powder holder for all the gymnasts to use at Sportpaleis, featuring empowering messages like “You’re awesome” and “And you’re doing great.” The final image in the carousel showcased the Team USA women, including Leanne Wong, Joscelyn Roberson, Biles, Shilese Jones, and Skye Blakely, posing together. These images warmed the hearts of fans, who were thrilled to see their queen return to dominate.

Her full circle moment
Biles’ comeback held a special significance as she returned to the same venue where she had made her World Gymnastics Championships debut a decade ago, in 2013, at the age of 16. Back then, she was a rising star who had won her first competition. This time around, she returned with an impressive 5 World All-Around titles under her belt and left with 6.

This also made her the most decorated gymnast ever with 34 medals to her name at 26 years of age. Her iconic moment on the qualifiers included having the Yurchenko Double Pike on vault named after her, now known as “Biles II,” giving Simone Biles five elements under her belt within the FIG’s Code of Points.

Retuning after nearly 2-year Biles proved that though times have changed she is still the “G.O.A.T” in gymnastics. The images shared by Biles revealed that her comeback was a full-circle moment, filled with small stories and special moments beyond the medals and accolades.
