Andy Murray is already enjoying tennis retirement

Andy Murray brought his epic tennis career to an end earlier this week and is already enjoying his retirement, digging into the doughnuts in the crowd at the Olympics.

The 37-year-old brought his career to a close on Thursday when he was beaten in the doubles, alongside Dan Evans, by American duo Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

It is the end of an era in British tennis, with the two-time Wimbledon champion hanging up his racket at the Olympics, where he has also won two gold medals.

The Scot looks like he will be making the most of the freedom of retirement, though, drinking in some more Olympic action and eating whatever he wants.
Murray was watching Simone Biles compete alongside his daughter in Paris and in front of another tennis legend in Billie Jean King.

He was also spotted tucking into a chocolate doughnut, no longer needing to worry about the diet of a sportsman quite so much.

Judy Murray noticed a clip of her son enjoying the snack and posted on X: ‘When you can finally eat whatever you want……’ followed by a doughnut and pig emoji.

Unquestionably Murray is retiring very happy with what he achieved on the court, even though he couldn’t end his career with a fairytale finale in Paris.

The former world number one is very content with how he compares to his big three rivals of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, and revealed a message from another tennis icon, Bjorn Borg.

‘He said, “Congrats to one of the all-time greats, good luck for what’s next,”’ said Murray.

‘I’m very aware that the guys I was competing against had significantly better careers than I have.

‘But, for a period in the middle part of my career, I was competing with them in the biggest tournaments consistently and I managed to get to number one in the world whilst they were all playing and that meant a lot to me.

‘It hasn’t been easy to win the major competitions whilst they’ve been around. So, to have someone of that stature recognise that was obviously really special.’
