ANDY Murray fans haven’t been able to handle it, as the tennis hero posted perhaps the most bizarre photo from his retirement to date.
He looks completely unrecognisable – all because of a new skincare routine.
Murray, 37, called time on his epic tennis career this month at the Olympics in Paris.
He paired up with Dan Evans in the mens doubles and the Team GB made an improbable run to the quarter-finals and flirted with a shot at a medal before being downed by the American duo of Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.
Along the way Murray and his partner served up some more thrilling tennis, saving FIVE matches points in the first round and coming out on top in a nail-biting tiebreaker in the second round.
Since then Murray enjoyed cheering on fellow Scot Duncan Scott to a silver medal in the swimming pool and later watched Team GB’s women’s hockey squad in action against Argentina alongside his daughter.
He was also spotted munching on a cheeky doughnut and since the conclusion of the Paris Games he has been playing some golf and embarking on a new venture as an ambassador for sunscreen.
But there is still plenty of time to be filled in an average day for the Dunblane star.
As Murray fans can attest, his matches could regularly go on for four or five hours – and then he would go through long, arduous recovery sessions.
So today his spare time was filled up by getting a facial.
The man himself didn’t seem too happy about it, as he posted a picture of it on Instagram with the caption “I knew retirement was going to hit me hard” in his typically deadpan style of humour.
Murray is sitting on a chair in what looks like a large bedroom with a face mask on and needless to say, he’s not exactly cracking a smile.
But some his court cohorts were absolutely loving it.
“More of this content pleaseeeeee,” wrote women’s tennis ace Sloane Stephens (who like Murray won her debut Grand Slam at the US Open).
And former Australian wheelchair tennis and basketball star Dylan Alcott joked: “Mate I’ve caught you doing this in the locker room more than twice!
Murray’s fans reacted with similar glee, though one did say (tongue-in-cheek): “He’s gone off the rails already.”
Another fan said: “The photo we didn’t know we needed.”
A third wrote: “I reckon your next chapter is on the comedy arena.”
And in a similar vein a fourth fan said: “Who said Andy doesn’t have a sense of humour?!”
A fifth said: “Best sense of humour on tennis court and off.”
“You are hilarious,” said another.
Though, some worried if Murray had either committed a classic Scottish holiday error, or got his dates mixed up…
“You just look like a Scotsman that tried to use factor 10 on the second day of his holidays,” said one fan.
“Halloween’s not until October Andy,” said another.
