WASHINGTON (TNND) — Multiple vigils are planned to celebrate the birthday of political activist Charlie Kirk as he receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom Tuesday.
A birthday memorial will be held in Dunwoody, Georgia.
Others include local memorial events in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday. The events will have candlelight vigils, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Kirk would have turned 32.
The “Honoring Charlie Kirk and Celebrating Civil Discourse Event” will happen at 6:30 at Brook Run Park, according to local media.
One confirmed speaker is Georgia GOP Attorney General Chris Carr.
Kirk was assassinated last month while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. He was the founder of a conservative group called Turning Point USA.
Prosecutors in Utah said they are seeking the penalty for 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the suspected killer of Kirk who was charged with aggravated murder.
Kirk will also receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday at a ceremony at the White House at 4 p.m.
His wife Erika will accept it on his behalf.
“Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people,” Trump said in the past. “Our prayers are with his wonderful wife, Erika, and his beautiful children. Fantastic people. They are. We miss him greatly.”
Turning Point USA posted a video Tuesday in memory of Kirk that showed video footage of him, Erika and their two kids.
