BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Boca Raton drivers who speed through school zones can expect citations starting on Thursday.
The Boca Raton Police Services Department announced on Oct. 11 that speeding infractions where RedSpeed cameras are present will result in traffic citations.

The enforcement of citations comes after a warning period for the Boca Raton School Zone Safety Program that began on September 2, where warnings were issued for infractions. During the warning period, the police department says it issued 1,300 warnings. Half of those warnings came from J.C. Mitchell Elementary School.
The Boca Raton Police Services Department wants to issue these reminders:
- Cameras will be active, and citations issued when school zone lights are flashing
- Drivers going 10+ mph over the limit will be automatically cited
- All $100 fines are civil infractions – no fees, points, or insurance impact
- SLOW DOWN IN SCHOOL ZONES
