Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is set to make his comeback at the Paris Masters on Tuesday, aiming to put an end to a surprising losing streak. That’s right, you read it correctly.

The tennis great has played three doubles matches so far in 2023 and he is 0-3 in terms of results, but he will be the first to tell you that he uses doubles matches to get match practice under his belt and he is in need of minutes on the court ahead of his final tilt this campaign.

Djokovic has not featured on the ATP Tour since he lifted his 24th Grand Slam title when he brushed aside Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final on September 10.

He then played one singles rubber and one doubles encounter during the Davis Cup Group phase in Valencia as he helped Serbia to qualify for the knockout stage in Malaga in November.

After taking a well-deserved break, Djokovic will return to ATP Tour action on Tuesday as he will play in the doubles of the Paris Masters alongside compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic.

And the Serbian pair could not have asked for a more difficult first-round encounter at the ATP Masters 1000 event as they will face Jannik Sinner and Stan Wawrinka.

The winner of that clash will take on third seeds Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden in the second round.

What time is the Novak Djokovic doubles match?
Organisers of the Paris Masters are yet to release the order of play for Tuesday with the schedule usually issued at the completion of the day’s play. Matches start at 11am local time (09:00 GMT), but it is unlikely that they will be on court early in the morning.

There is an interesting twist or two to the doubles match as Djokovic’s partner Kecmanovic will be in action in the singles as well on Tuesday as he will take on Tomas Etcheverry.

And guess what?

The winner of the Kecmanovic-Etcheverry match will face Djokovic in the second round of the Paris Masters with that match likely to take place on Wednesday.

Novak Djokovic’s doubles record in 2023
Djokovic teamed up with Vasek Pospisil at the Adelaide International at the start of the year and they lost 6-4, 3-6, 5-10, but the Serbian went on to win the Australian Open a few weeks later.

Seven months later he teamed up with Nikola Cacic at the Cincinnati Masters and they too lost in the first round as Jamie Murray and Michael Venus won 6-4, 6-2.

Then in September he played alongside Cacic in Serbia’s Davis Cup clash against the Czech Republic, but they lost 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 3-10.
