"Carlos Alcaraz Expresses Concerns Over Condition, Uncertain About Madrid Participation"
Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Barcelona Open this week due to his right arm injury, but still spoke to media at the ATP 500 tournament to provide an update.
Alcaraz first announced that he had ‘an injured pronator teres’ in his right arm at the Monte Carlo Masters, withdrawing from the tournament for a second consecutive season due to injury.
Despite this, the 20-year-old headed to the Barcelona Open where he is a two-time defending champion, but on Sunday it was confirmed that the Spaniard would also be pulling out of this event.
And now the Wimbledon champion has revealed the full extent of the injury, casting doubts over his Madrid Masters participation, “My feeling isn’t right, but it is what it is. Now I’m fully focused on recovery and I have a little more time.”
The world No.3 continued, “My goal is to try and go to the Madrid Open, but at the moment nothing is certain. I was given specific recovery times and I’ve respected them, but I haven’t felt good. I don’t want to get ahead of myself.
“I can’t say I’ll be 100 percent in Madrid, but that’s my intention. We’ll train and do everything we can so that the feelings improve so I can play a match … It’s also a very special tournament for me.”

Carlos Alcaraz is also a two-time defending champion in Madrid, with the Spaniard having just over a week to recover in time for his home ATP Masters 1000 event.
