Carlos Alcaraz Positioned for Significant Year-End Bonuses with Novak Djokovic Ineligible.

Despite facing a challenging conclusion to the season, Carlos Alcaraz, the rising tennis sensation from Spain, leads the standings to receive the year-end bonus.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated young players in the men’s singles category currently playing in the circuit. Alcaraz had a tough end to 2023 as he was defeated in the semifinal of the ATP Finals by the current world number one Novak Djokovic with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

Despite that result, the current world number two topped the chart to receive a year-end bonus ahead of the likes of Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Russia’s Daniil Medvedev. It is not clear how much each player will receive out of the $20 million that is set to be distributed.

World number one Djokovic was not eligible to receive the bonus as he ended up missing more than three ATP 1000 Masters events in the calendar year.

“Players that are in good standing shall be eligible for the bonus pool in this section based upon the total Pepperstone ATP Rankings points earned at the ATP Tour Masters 1000 and Nitto ATP Finals events in 2023,” read the ATP statement. “To be paid the full bonus pool amount set forth in this section a player must play all mandatory ATP Tour Masters 1000 events and the Nitto ATP Finals in which such player is a main draw direct acceptance.”

The highlight of the year for Alcaraz was his triumph at Wimbledon where he defeated Djokovic in a memorable five-set thrilling finale with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
