Despite the fact that he will be the defending champion in several of the most important tournaments of the 2024 season on the ATP circuit, such as the title won at Wimbledon against Novak Djokovic, the Madrid Masters or Indian Wells, and that he will also be the favorite in the other three Grand Slams of the year, Carlos Alcaraz has a goal in mind that surpasses all those mentioned: the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.

In an interview granted by the two-time Grand Slam winner to Le Figaro, where he also reiterated his desire to be able to compete in the doubles at the Olympic Games alongside Rafa Nadal, Alcaraz confirmed that his mind is above all on what he can achieve for Spain in Paris.

“It’s true that the Grand Slams and Masters 1000 are the priorities, but representing your country at the Games is a dream,” Alcaraz told Le Figaro. “Winning the gold medal at the Games would be extraordinary and it is certainly my main goal for 2024.”

About the Olympic Games, Carlos Alcaraz also mentioned that his first memory is seeing Nadal together with Marc Lopez in those mythical Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, where the pair made history by winning a gold medal in the doubles draw that will forever remain engraved in the most memorable pages of Spanish tennis: “Playing alongside Rafa would be a dream, I hope that when the time comes we are both ready for it”.

For the moment, Carlos Alcaraz is focused right now on his participation in the Australian Open, where he returns after two years with all the spotlights on him as the main contender to compete for the title alongside Novak Djokovic.
