“Carrie Underwood has disclosed her parenting regimen, and it’s unexpectedly relatable. During her off-tour days, the country star engages in cooking, household chores, and tending to her garden.”
The American Idol winner sat down with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on the TODAY show. Hoda asked Carrie to describe her “regular day” as a mom. Carrie and her husband, Mike Fisher, have two young sons, Isaiah (8) and Michael (4).
Carrie explained, “The kids go to school, my husband usually takes them. The second they leave I gotta vacuum. I make their beds and check their rooms—make sure there aren’t wet towels on the floor. Clean our room, go work out, garden. I’m always cooking something or canning something. I kind of live in the kitchen, making bread or something. And then, before you know it, they’re back home, and I cook dinner and we eat as a family.”
She continued, “I like to cook, I like to grow our food. That’s what I enjoy doing, and I want them to remember that.”
Jenna asked Carrie about how she limits her sons’ exposure to technology: “It’s such a battle, right? Even television. I notice if they kind of watch too much TV. They have an attitude shift. And I’m like, ‘Why are you moody, what are we doing?’ Sometimes they learn a lot from different television programs and movies, but it’s a struggle.”
She’s keeping kids off cell phones “as long as possible. There’s been a whole grassroots initiative within their school, and a bunch of parents getting together and discussing how they’re keeping their kids away technology, especially social media.

Carrie is enjoying some family time at home before she heads back to Las Vegas for the next leg of her “REFLECTION” residency, which resumes on November 17.
