Tennis star Coco Gauff has praised Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark following the conclusion of March Madness.
Clark’s final year in collegiate basketball drew to a close with heartbreak after Iowa lost to South Carolina in the final. The two one-seeds faced off on Sunday, but the favorites got the job done at Clark’s expense.
The superstar ended her collegiate career without silverware, but she still put together a historic collegiate career, breaking record after record and changing the face of the women’s game before reaching the WNBA.
Clark has received praise aplenty for her achievements, and tennis star Gauff has posted a tribute to her story.
She posted a graphic showing Clark disappointed after the final but with a backdrop of all her successes in the background, and she posted the graphic with a clapping emoji.
Coco Gauff’s prediction
Coco Gauff predicted the winner of the women’s bracket accurately, writing before March Madness: “This is interesting… I think I’m gonna go with South Carolina.”
The tennis star has also shown her love for watching basketball in the past, writing before the Final Four: “Don’t text me between 7pm – 11:00pm EST tonight. I am busy.” She wrote of Clark’s performance in that Iowa Final Four match: “Unreal game sheesshh @catlinclark22.”
Coco Gauff was also spotted rushing to the bench to watch LSU in action after winning the Miami Open doubles in 2023. When she was asked what she had rushed to the benches to watch, she simply replied: “Watching LSU”.
