Daniil Medvedev will be unable to defend his title at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open after the tournament announced he has withdrawn from the hard-court ATP 250.
The No. 3 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings is not ready to compete in Doha due to a foot issue. Medvedev, who began his year by reaching the championship match at the Australian Open, is next scheduled to compete at the upcoming ATP 500 in Dubai, where he is also the defending champion.
The Doha field will now be led by Andrey Rublev. The World No. 5 is a former champion in Qatar, where he lifted the trophy in 2020.
