Emma Raducanu, the emerging tennis sensation from Britain, has offered her congratulations to Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur on her championship victory at the Ningbo Open. The 29-year-old Jabeur clinched her fifth WTA title by defeating Russia’s Diana Shnaider in the final, securing a straight-set victory with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-1.

Emma Raducanu, who is currently spending time on the sidelines as she continues her recovery, congratulated Jabeur in a post on her official account on social media platform X —previously known as Twitter.

The victory was a special one for Jabeur who had a rather tough time in 2023. The Ksar Hellal-born started the year slowly as she was knocked out of the Australian Open after losing in the second round to Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova with a score of 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.

In the French Open, she had a better outing, Jabeur had a better outing as she managed to qualify for the quarterfinal but lost to Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia with a score of 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.

Wimbledon was yet another best outing for Jabeur but once again, Jabeur fell short on the final hurdle as she lost to Vondrousova in the final with a score of 6-4, 6-4.

It was Jabeur’s third defeat in the final of the Grand Slam in the space of last two years.
