Formula One stars are enjoying a well-earned break after another tough season. Teams will spend the winter preparing their cars as they target halting Red Bull’s dominance.

Max Verstappen ran away with the Drivers’ Championship in 2023, unable to be caught by the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, George Russell or even team-mate Sergio Perez. It was the Dutchman’s third consecutive title.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton will be desperate to end his two-season wait for a Grand Prix triumph. The 38-year-old is also running out of time to win a record eighth Championship, and will have his eyes set on Verstappen for 2024.

Schumacher’s life ‘different’

Michael Schumacher’s life is ‘different’ compared to before his tragic crash in December 2013, Jean Todt has revealed.

It is 10 years since Schumacher’s skiing accident left him with life-changing injuries.

Former Ferrari boss Todt is one of very few people allowed to visit Schumacher at his home in Switzerland.

“Michael is here, so I don’t miss him,” Todt said.

“[But he] is simply not the Michael he used to be. He is different and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him.

“His life is different now and I have the privilege of sharing moments with him. That’s all there is to say. Unfortunately, fate struck him ten years ago. He is no longer the Michael we knew in Formula One.”

The 80-year-old has a contract until the end of next season.

However, some reports have claimed that new Red Bull management could reduce his responsibilities.

That could include Marko coming away from the running of the AlphaTauri sister team.

Marko recently said: “There are different trends and variants. The decisions are still open, including what I will do after this. My current contract runs until the end of 2024.”
