Formula One teams return to action at the weekend as they make final plans for the Australian Grand Prix. The likes of Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren all went back to the drawing board after Red Bull started the season with successive one-two finishes in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, respectively.

While Red Bull and driver Max Verstappen have been dominant on the track, the team continue to dominate the news agenda away from the grid. A fresh complaint has been made to the FIA over Christian Horner’s conduct. The team principal denies the allegations.

Alex Albon ‘chomping at the bit’ to find new team

Williams star Alex Albon will be desperate to find his way into a faster car sooner rather than later, believes F1 reporter Natalie Pinkham.

Albon is the standout driver among those towards the back of the pack, wiping the floor with team-mate Logan Sargeant last season.

And the 27-year-old has been urged to ‘be selfish’ in order to get the most out of his F1 career.

“It’s interesting isn’t it because you don’t really associate the word patience with F1 drivers,” Pinkham told Beyond The Grid.

“It’s funny though isn’t it because you’re right, [Williams boss] James Vowles has certainly marked out a very long-term project here.

“Alex, I feel like he’s going to be chomping at the bit to get into more competitive machinery sooner than Williams’s trajectory will allow, I think it’s going to take too long.

“For the sake of his career, he needs to be selfish about that because it is a short shelf life to be a driver.”
