The Spanish golfer gave an interview to ESPN in which he talks about his move to LIV Golf and the reactions of other golfers
Jon Rahm revealed in an interview with ESPN that since announcing his departure to LIV Golf, he has had no further contact with Tiger Woods. The latest winner of the Masters at Augusta said that he spoke to Rory McIlroy and Woods to tell them of his decision.
The reactions from both were completely opposite from one another.
“Rory has supported my decision publicly and also privately,” Rahm admitted to ESPN.
“Did Tiger Woods support me? No, not really. I texted him and people who were close to the process when I signed. I told him, ‘Hey, you know, it’s a personal decision.’ I think he’s too busy to talk to me,
What made Rahm change his mind?
Rahm also gave details of what prompted his change of heart about taking the plunge and accepting the offer from LIV Golf.

“When the PGA Tour and the PIF (Public Investment Fund, which manages the LIV Tour), came to an agreement to maybe work together in the future, it opened my mind, maybe I had been a little bit closed-minded about it. And maybe I should give myself a chance. As a sportsman I think I owe it to myself to listen to the other option. And that’s what I did,” he concluded.
“The PGA Tour was the pinnacle of golf. … There’s a big change in the way golfers are compensated. I’d be lying if I wasn’t a big part of it. Simply put, I get paid to play the same sport and have more time. I don’t know about most people, but I think that’s great.”
