Kate Middleton and Prince William’s date nights are actually very relatable – and include a curry delivery and a few episodes of Netflix
Despite their Royal status, Prince William and Kate Middleton are known for their down-to-earth nature, especially when it comes to their ideal date night. The couple relishes spending quality time with their children at home, and once the kids are tucked in bed, they enjoy a relaxed evening on the sofa.
An insider previously revealed to Us Weekly that “Kate loves nothing more than ordering Indian takeaway and eating it from a dinner tray on the couch while watching a bit of Netflix with William,” As for their favourite shows, the source shared that the Royal couple “used to catch up on Game of Thrones together every couple of weeks, and most recently they binged Bodyguard”. The royals have previously expressed their fondness for Indian takeaway.
In 2017, during an interview with BBC Radio 1, Kate disclosed her top takeaway choice. “Curry, definitely,” she confirmed.
“It doesn’t usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up,” she added, quickly clarifying: “Not ourselves! ” While Kate prefers her food spicy, William confessed he likes his dishes milder. Speaking to footballer Peter Crouch on his podcast in 2020, he admitted he is “not a vindaloo man put it that way” and prefers a chicken tikka masala.
Furthermore, during a Radio 1 appearance, Prince William mentioned he also enjoys Nando’s, having been introduced to the restaurant by his police protection officer, reports the Mirror.
Takeaways, it seems, are a Royal treat, with some of the world’s finest cuisines at their disposal, even the late Queen enjoyed this simple pleasure. A source told Fabulous, “She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”
Not just fish and chips, but Her Majesty had a taste for kebabs too, as reported by Hello! magazine.
Royal correspondent Jayne Seymour heard from Krazy Kebabs in Swaffham that an order was placed by phone to Sandringham House. The delivery driver, recounting the experience to Jayne, said: “I assumed the food was for a servant. But when I got to the entrance a butler took it and said it was for the Queen. I hope she enjoyed it – we are known for the best kebabs in Norfolk.”
Adding to these revelations in an interview with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, Queen Camilla disclosed her go-to takeaway indulgence.
“Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper,” she shared. “That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips.”
King Charles has shown he’s got a taste for the simpler things in life – like a good slice of pizza. It came out back in November 2019, during his tour of Scotland, that the Margherita is his go-to choice.
The moment was captured when a delighted Charles chuckled as he received the Italian classic from a local while mingling with the St Boswells community. Chef Erminio Di Meo revealed to the Press Association, “I wanted to give him the pizza as he is such a big part of this country. He was curious, he smiled and I said ‘it’s a margherita’. I believe the Prince said ‘it’s my favourite’.”
