Kate Middleton is facing a major change in her family life, which comes with a whole new routine for the future Queen, and an expert has claimed that this may be ‘daunting’ for her.

Kate Middleton has faced some seriously heavy challenges this year, and for the most part, has stayed out of the spotlight, retreating and spending time with her family as she recovers from cancer treatment. During the school holidays, she and her husband Prince William took two special trips with their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, aged six – allowing them some quality time away from the public eye.

The family first spent time in their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall, which was gifted to William and Kate by the late Queen Elizabeth when they got married, and then later they travelled up to Aberdeenshire and enjoyed a holiday at Balmoral Castle with King Charles. But now, Kate is potentially facing a “daunting” new routine in her family life, an expert has claimed, and it’s one that is pretty relatable to parents across the country.

As reported in Hello magazine Laura Whitwood, Head of Junior School at St Dunstan’s College, an education expert, explained that the beginning of the new academic year, which has seen the three Wales children return to their classes at Lambrook School, can be “daunting” for parents like Kate.

“It should not be underestimated what a huge transition the new school year is for children, but often it feels much more significant for parents,” explained the expert, who added that going from the freedom of the long summer holidays to the restrictive routine of the academic year can be “daunting” especially because it comes along with a loss of quality time between parents and their children.

Kate, who is known to be a hands-on parent, will have to get back into the swing of the school year’s routine, all whilst adapting to seeing less of her children, “the shift in routines, having to organise yourselves a week in advance, preparing uniforms, lunches, pencil cases, remembering where to be and when, key dates…The list can feel endless,” noted the expert.

This change in routine can be filled with mixed emotions for parents, but it’s not all bad, claims the expert, who points out that youngsters heading back to the classroom can also give parents a bit more time to focus on their own needs, “It gives parents the chance to recharge their batteries, have some independent time for a section of the day and get planning for half term,” Whitwood said.

For the time being, Kate remains away from royal duties, having only made two public appearances this summer – at Trooping the Colour and the men’s final at the Wimbledon tennis championships. Reports have claimed that Kate hopes to join the other royals at the Cenotaph for Remembrance Sunday, and if she is well enough to throw her annual Christmas Carol concert, but royal fans shouldn’t expect a full return to work anytime soon….
