Tomorrow, Prince George, second-in-line to the throne, will celebrate his 11th birthday, inching closer to his teenage years.
His siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have also experienced their mother Kate undergoing cancer treatment this year, likely prompting her to make George’s day as memorable as possible.
Kate Middleton has previously shared a heartwarming tradition she upholds each year on the eve of her children’s birthdays, which involves staying up late. After her little ones have gone to bed, Kate takes to the kitchen to personally bake each of them a special birthday cake.
As George turns 11 tomorrow, Kate may once again spend a late night preparing his birthday treat. This tradition was revealed by Kate during a 2019 BBC special program titled “A Berry Royal Christmas,” where she and William joined baking expert Mary Berry.
That’s because once her little ones have gone to bed, Kate sets about making them their very own birthday cake. And George’s 11th birthday tomorrow means she could have a late night in the kitchen as she whips up the birthday treat.
Kate revealed her adorable tradition in 2019 when she and William appeared on a special BBC programme with baking expert Mary Berry called A Berry Royal Christmas.
In it, she spoke of her love for baking and told Mary that when it comes to her children’s birthdays: “I love making the cake.” She added: “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”
George’s birthday comes a week after he joined his dad William to support England in their Euro 2024 final against Spain, his latest outing in a spree of recent public appearances.
He joined William at the Olympic stadium in Berlin, Germany, as Gareth Southgate’s side failed to end a 58-year wait for a major men’s trophy.
