British royal family news reveals that King Charles has returned to Clarence House after a brief visit to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. It’s been reported that he sought medical treatment due to side effects from his cancer treatment.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the monarch experienced “temporary side effects” from his cancer treatment and will now be sidelined from his scheduled engagements for Friday.

King Charles Taken to Hospital
A Buckingham Palace spokesman stated that after a scheduled medical treatment for cancer on Thursday at The London Clinic “The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.”

They added that the monarch returned to Clarence House and rescheduled Friday’s events as a “precautionary measure.”

The King’s hospital visit comes as Charles has not seemed to slow down his busy calendar despite being diagnosed with cancer more than a year ago.

He has been undergoing treatment since that time and last week it was announced that he is also pursuing alternative medicine, including cannabis.

The King and Queen’s State Visit to Italy in April Stands
There was no clarification on the side effects the king suffered and his cancer was diagnosed after a January 2024 procedure on his prostate.

He was taken to the hospital by private car and not via emergency services according to the palace. Charles is now resting and “continuing to work on State Papers and making calls from his study.” It was confirmed that Queen Camilla did not join her husband while he was at the hospital.

King Charles is Keeping a Full Schedule
The King’s hospital visit meant he “postponed a number of audiences he had due to hold with ambassadors at Buckingham Palace on Thursday afternoon” according to The Sun.

It was reported that the king and queen stull plan to go ahead with a State Visit to Italy scheduled for April. A palace source said that today’s episode was a “minor bump in a road” for Charles’ overall recovery, stating that he is “very much heading in the right direction.”

The regent’s cancer diagnosis came after a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. At the same time, Princess Catherine was also being treated for a scheduled abdominal surgery at the same clinic.

The palace has never disclosed which form of the disease Charles is suffering from, nor which Kate was diagnosed with. Last September the future queen announced that she was cancer free following a round of preventative chemotherapy.
