Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move and Christian Horner’s investigation have triggered a fervor of activity in the F1 paddock. Many expected it to be an otherwise boring F1 season, with Max Verstappen continuing his dominance on the track. However, these two instances have completely shaken up the world of F1. And now, just days after Jos Verstappen’s comments against Christian Horner, Lewis Hamilton has come out claiming that Papa Verstappen’s opinion isn’t helpful for Max Verstappen and Red Bull.
The verdict of the Christian Horner investigation that started in the first week of February came just before the Bahrain GP weekend. And while Red Bull didn’t find the Team Principal guilty of anything, there’s still an uproar in the community about the lack of transparency regarding the investigation. Amid all this, Jos Verstappen made comments suggesting Red Bull Racing could “explode” if Horner remains with the team.
Talking about Jos Verstappen’s recent actions, as per Motorsportweek.com, Lewis Hamilton said, “I don’t know the details of it, so I don’t know what he is basing his foundations off. But, at the end of the day, he is not a part of the team, he is a parent. So that’s just an opinion but it’s definitely not helpful.”
Lewis Hamilton also took the initiative of shedding light on how a parent-child relationship works in the world of F1 and how Max Verstappen is old enough to make his own decisions.
“Very easy to be misled by people”: Lewis Hamilton on Jos and Max Verstappen’s relationship
Jos Verstappen is believed to be the reason why Max Verstappen is such a ruthless and fast driver. While many considered Jos’ treatment of Max to be too aggressive, papa Verstappen knew what it took to succeed at the pinnacle of motorsports, and nurtured his son in a way to make sure he went on to become a champion. Lewis Hamilton, however, believes that Max Verstappen is now a grown man and makes his own decisions.
Talking about Max’s relationship with his father, Hamilton said, “I don’t know about his relationship, obviously you hear things here and there, but I think Max is a grown man, he’s a champion and I’m sure he can make his own decisions. But I think in our world as drivers, it is very easy to be misled by people whispering in your ear, and perhaps not guiding you always the right way.”
