Max Verstappen has rubbished claims against his father, Jos Verstappen.
Max Verstappen has labelled claims his father Jos was a destabilising figure at Red Bull as “nonsense.”
As tensions rose within Red Bull as the investigation into boss Christian Horner was carried out at the start of 2024, Jos Verstappen was quite vocal in his opposition to Horner continuing in his role.
The elder Verstappen continued this spat with Horner at the Austrian GP where he claimed the Red Bull boss had prevented him from taking part in a demo run at Red Bull’s home-track, something Horner himself rubbished.
When the claims of Jos’s presence being a distraction, the four-time world champion Max rubbished the claims.
“That’s nonsense, my father is very quick to see the bigger picture,” he told de Telegraaf.
“Certain things that happen affect the future of me and the team, some people on the outside may not see that.
“When it was very turbulent around the team, we still had the fastest car, fortunately, otherwise, it would have been a lot harder for everyone.
“Since the Miami race in early May, there have been very few races where I’ve had the fastest car, and yet I still beat everyone to the title.
“I am proud of how we as a team have dealt with the difficult races and often still made the most of them.”
