Max Verstappen has begun the new F1 season where he left off last, so why is it so easy for him?
Red Bull and RB reserve driver Liam Lawson has revealed why Max Verstappen is “so comfortable” when driving the RB20.
The Dutchman has started off the new season where he left off last with two dominant victories at the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, leading home teammate Sergio Perez for two consecutive one-two finishes.

It means Max Verstappen has secured the win in all but three races since the beginning of the last campaign, setting him up well for a tilt at a fourth F1 Drivers’ title.
Whilst the closing stages of last season saw Ferrari and Charles Leclerc make strides into Red Bull’s advantage in qualifying, the gap has again widened to begin the new term.

‘So precise’
“With where Max is at right now with Red Bull, the car is in such a good window and he’s so comfortable with it,” Lawson told the Sky Sports F1 podcast.

“The best way to see it is when you look at his qualifying lap from Jeddah, he doesn’t miss an apex and he gets so close, like so close to the wall in places.

“At turn four, I am pretty sure he touched on the inside, which is extremely difficult to do, to be that precise.

“But it is not just turn four, it’s turn 10, turn 22 as well – everywhere basically, he is so precise with it and it’s because he’s so confident with the car and it’s those things that really make up lap time as well.”
