Tennis fans have been eagerly waiting to see Novak Djokovic back on the court. While the World No.1 was last seen at the Australian Open, all eyes are now on the courts of California as his participation at the Indian Wells is confirmed. Bringing an unexpected delight to the fans, the world’s no.1 made an appearance at the Desert Smash charity event to partner up with celebrities. As EssentiallySports is covering this exciting event this year, here’s a closer look at the Djoker’s surprise visit.

The annual Desert Smash is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. As the event authorities confirmed the inclusion of several surprises, they kept their promise by welcoming Novak Djokovic alongside Charlize Theron. However, there might have been an even bigger ‘strategy’ at play as Djokovic got to do all the ‘work’!

As the crowd cheered for the Serbinator, Djokovic in a lighthearted mood, said, “I came here to support Charlize, and her foundation, and she made me work today, she made me run, I think that was a part of the strategy right…you’re there, looking good, and I’m running.”

Soon after the tennis star entered the court, Desert Smash’s official social media handle posted a picture of the moment when the Serb posed alongside the host and several players who came forward to be a part of the 20th anniversary of the prestigious event.

Novak Djokovic’s presence in the world of philanthropy
Novak Djokovic’s surprise appearance at the charity event might have been something new for the fans but it is not the same for the tennis legend. Djokovic has been contributing to the betterment of the education system with the help of his foundation.

Targeted at building schools and getting educators ready to provide children with the right guidance, the Novak Djokovic Foundation has been making evident efforts to evolve the education system since 2007. With the aim to ensure that every child in Serbia has access to preschool by 2030, the tennis legend’s efforts are slowly bringing positive change to society.

As the Serb added another example to depict his support for good causes by making an appearance at the Desert Smash, it is sure that he is a man of two different personalities. One with an aggressive side on the tennis courts and the other with a golden heart.
