Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic will enter the 2025 season as the only active player from the famous ‘Big 4’ group. The Serb will turn 38 in May next year, and he is still motivated to compete against the young guns and chase notable titles in the upcoming years.

Roger Federer left the Tour after Wimbledon 2021. Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray retired in the second part of 2024, leaving Novak as the only legend who is still active. Despite achieving everything, the Serb is eager to extend his tennis journey and legacy.

With 24 Major titles and over 400 weeks on the ATP throne, Djokovic is the most decorated player of all time. He made the final push in the GOAT race last year, playing in four Major finals and lifting three titles, leaving Federer and Nadal behind for good.

Novak’s 2024 run and plans for 2025
Djokovic wrapped up the 2023 season with his eighth year-end no. 1 honor at 36. The legend could not repeat that in 2024, playing in one Major final and finishing on one ATP title. However, Novak threw everything at the Olympic Games in Paris, seeking the missing title.

He defeated six rivals in straight sets en route to a gold medal, collecting all 15 notable titles and completing the game of tennis. Novak struggled in the first half of the season. He fell to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open semi-final and parted ways with Goran Ivanisevic after Miami.

The Serb failed to reach the final ahead of Roland Garros and suffered a knee injury in Paris. Djokovic survived two five-setters and reached the quarter-final before withdrawing and undergoing surgery. Novak recovered by Wimbledon and defeated five rivals to book a place in the final.

Like a year ago, Djokovic suffered a loss to Carlos Alcaraz, falling in straight sets and missing his 25th Major trophy. Still, he raised his level at the Olympic Games and prevailed over Alcaraz in two tie breaks en route to a gold medal and tennis glory.

Djokovic lost interest and played only a couple of tournaments by the end of the year, embracing a rare year-end position outside the top-5. Novak will switch his focus back on Majors in 2025, planning to enter more tournaments and challenge the rivals from the top.
