Officer injured after man drives through Coast Guard Headquarters gate in South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A Philadelphia Police officer is recovering after a man allegedly drove through the front gates at Coast Guard Headquarters in South Philadelphia.

It happened on Washington Avenue just before 7 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities say the man then got out of his vehicle, disabled the security cameras and communication devices, and hit an officer with a camera.

He was quickly taken into custody.

The officer suffered a minor injury.
