Pippa Middleton, who turns 41 today, has had a difficult year watching her older sibling fight cancer.
The pair have always had an incredibly close relationship and this has really shone through recently.

When Kate went to Wimbledon in July after days of speculation about her attendance, Pippa was there too (along with Princess Charlotte).

As her sister was warmly greeted onto the famous Centre Court, Pippa smiled proudly.

Her strong bond with her niece Charlotte showed too as the pair happily chatted together during the matches.

Pippa’s unwavering loyalty to her sister has even prompted speculation that she could become Kate’s lady in waiting, though nothing has been officially confirmed.

Born Philippa Charlotte Middleton on September 6, 1983, to Carole and Michael Middleton, she is only 18 months younger than her sister.

The family moved to Jordan when she was one year old and she spent her early years living in Amman while her father worked for British Airways.

They returned to Berkshire in 1986 and her younger brother James was born the following year.

During her childhood, Pippa helped with her parent’s family business Party Pieces business.

Her mother Carole revealed in an interview with The Telegraph in 2018: ‘It was part of the children’s lives – it still is – and they’d come and help. They did a lot of modelling.

‘Pippa did the blog. I still value their ideas and opinions.’

The middle Middleton child attended St Andrew’s School in Pangbourne, and then joined her sister at Marlborough College, where she held a sports scholarship.

She went on to study English literature at the University of Edinburgh.

Following graduation, she briefly worked at a public relations firm promoting luxury products and then had a job in events management.

Pippa dazzled in a figure-hugging Alexander McQueen dress at Kate’s wedding to William in April 2011, where she was her sister’s maid of honour.

Copies of her bridesmaid dress were soon available on the High Street and were in high demand.

It began a trend which is now referred to as the ‘Pippa Middleton effect’.
Years later, she said she hadn’t expected the reaction, revealing: ‘I was surprised and still don’t understand it.’

‘I have had a few years of being in the public eye and I have developed something of a thick skin.

‘But managing it all on my own has been quite hard. I have quite a lot thrown at me, such as being followed by people hiding behind cars and jumping out with cameras. It can be unnerving.’

Pippa went on to explore various career options and wrote for publications including Waitrose Kitchen magazine, The Sunday Times and Vanity Fair.

However, Pippa’s life as a media personality was reportedly ‘quietly and diplomatically reined in’ by her brother-in-law Prince William.

Instead, her focus shifted to more charitable ventures and she is now an ambassador for The British Heart Foundation, Disability Snowsport UK and The Mary Hare school for Deaf children.

She got engaged to James Matthews, a racing driver-turned-city trader, in 2016 and the pair wed in May 2017 at St Mark’s Church Englefield, Berkshire, near the Middleton family home.

They now have three children together, Arthur, Grace, and Rose.

She gave birth to her children in the Lindo Wing of London’s St. Mary’s Hospital, the same place where Kate gave birth to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Pippa and James enjoy a quiet life together with their children in Berkshire, where they own a stunning £15million estate with 150 acres of land.
